"Fake" Pilot Wanted By Police After Flying Jets To London

Michael Fay flew for Libya's Afriqiyah Airways on false credentials, according to the news story. It claims he forged his pilot's license and medical certifications to get the position. Calling him a "clever and resourceful man" who had settled in Hampshire County in southeast England, a British law-enforcement official told the BBC that Fay "targeted Libyan aviation at a time when the country's political and economic standing was vulnerable and volatile."

During his eight months in the cockpit of an Airbus 320, the former U.S. Air Force pilot landed at London's Gatwick airport eight times. But he aroused suspicion on an aviation forum online, prompting another user to tip off the British police. They arrested Fay in 2011, and he was found guilt of fraud. Though he failed to appear for his sentencing hearing last week, the court gave him a three-year prison term. According to the article, Fay might be seeking work as a pilot or flight instructor outside of the U.K.

A quick Internet search turned up a possible explanation for how Fay got the job. In 2010, a secondary school called La Salle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island, printed a letter from a graduate named Mike Fay in an alumni newsletter, under the headline "Mike Fay '69 Sends A Note From the U.K." His message:

"Had a few minutes of free time, so I thought I would take a moment and update everyone as to what is happening on the other side of the Atlantic!

I had been working as a pilot for the Royal Family in Abu Dhabi. However, one of their financial interests, Afriqiyah Airways, located in Libya had a very bad crash in May. I am not [sic? now?] the Director of Training there. Interesting would be an understatement to say the least. But, I spend about 2 weeks in Tripoli and then I am back in the UK.

Pearls involving Travel Wisdom - Sausage: Day 3.

This is my final post approximately Randy Petersen's awesome first-ever Cash conference for BoardingArea blog owners held in Colorado Spgs. It began with a 39-hour trek merely get there, followed by Day 1 together with Day 2 events.

Sadly, I saw it to leave very early this morning to fly back to help Norway. Since I ended up being flying east, I was already eight hours behind hence the flights would not arrive back Norway until 9 here's, just in time to start my Monday work daytime. Hard to believe which it took 39 hours to obtain here and the give back just got worse. Still, my husband remained during the day and told me precisely what happened.

The day started out like yesterday, with Randy Petersen recapping the last day and discussing forthcoming events. Then it was off for the sessions. The Boarding Area track was necessarily about matters of interest to be able to BA bloggers so my husband opted instead for other track with guest people. His choice was perfect because the device was a session xmas trees by Google Plus guru Jeff Sauer. Awesome visit, the notes are two pages long. Jeff is in addition a fellow travel blogger while using clever name of Jeffsetter.

In 10: 30 in a morning, Randy spoke going back time. He led a discussion around a half-hour and the inaugural BAcon located an end. Bruce summed it up in such a manner:

When BAcon began two days ago, most with the bloggers only knew the other by blog name, if he or she even knew that. There were introductions and handshakes. Only a couple days later, everyone was for a first name basis by means of hugs saying goodbye. That's the power of Moolah.

My husband's flight has not been until Monday morning so for the first time since arriving, he may relax in Colorado Spgs and do … perfectly, nothing. But that is fine with him. He used the time period to relax, catch up on email (time who was sparse the past couple days) and get ready for leaving and pumped up about his return flight to Atlanta which included two of his preferred BoardingArea bloggers, MJon and DeltaPoints. I understand he could talk shop at their side all day.

A big thank you to Cheyenne Mountain Resort for getting our go-to resort and additionally conference center. Your property is beautiful your facilities outstanding.

Another big thanks for your time to sponsors GoGo In-flight for the free wi-fi coupons together with Delta Air Lines for this incredible evening of dinner and entertainment yesterday evening. Of course, the ultimate thanks visit Randy and the comprehensive House of Miles workers. Thank you for providing the time period for us to learn a great deal of but even more significant, thank you for the perfect event for spending time period with my fellow webmasters. A couple Pilots Fired After B razil Pop Star Takes Captain's Seating Mid-Flight.

Based on an incident report to the Aviation Herald, autopilot was on as well as the first officer was with his seat when Latino climbed into the captain's chair. After a couple pictures were snapped, the captain took back his seat along with the aircraft continued for your safe landing in Rio.

The news outlet reports the airline initially stated the photos were taken although plane was on the ground, but later admitted that aircraft was in-flight, evidenced by engine resources and navigation displays inside the background of the shots. Both pilots have been fired resulting from the occurrence, and Brazil's Agência Nacional de Aviação Civi - the country's equivalent to the Federal Aviation Administration in the states - has opened an investigation.

Consistent Miler - Bye ok bye Plastic Jungle.

Right now, Plastic Jungle shut lower their shop. They sent an email to their customers announcing that they would frequently no longer make trades discount gift cards directly from so to consumers. Instead of doing business directly with consumers, Plastic Jungle will continue to offer gift card change services through their partners (United MileagePlus, FlexPerks, BestBuy, CVS, and Zeevex). This means that will, instead of selling your used gift cards so that you can Plastic Jungle for funds, you can trade them in for miles or points in its place.

Of course, if you need cash for your gift cards, there remain a number of other options. Cardpool, GiftCards. com, and ABC Gift Cards are a few examples of services that currently tackle Plastic Jungle and will presumably continue to own services that Plastic Jungle is giving up.

Since I began operating a blog as Frequent Miler with September 2011, many deals I've written about have involved Plastic Jungle some way. For example, on Sept 22 2011, I published "Buy American Airlines Miles for just 1. 6 cents just about every. No limit. " For the reason that post I showed how to effectively buy AA miles by buying Sears product cards via the AAdvantage eShopping portal thereafter selling the gift bank cards to Plastic Jungle. This was back when miles received from any source mentioned towards AA lifetime state.

More recently, I wrote often about how to exploit TopCashBack's 4% rebate to get Plastic Jungle purchases together with sales (which later slipped to 2. 5%, after that recently to 1%). Because of that extra cash rear, it was sometimes possible to invest in discount gift cards from Plastic Jungle and sell them back with a profit. It wasn't effortless, though. Plastic Jungle was able to detect if you tried to sell the same card returning to them, so it was essential "launder" the gift card first by using it to buy a cutting edge gift card (stores such as Walmart and Target permit this) before selling it returning to Plastic Jungle.

The team at Plastic Jungle wish to thank you for your participation within our gift card programs over the past seven years. Since 2006, Plastic Jungle has become a 2010 leader in providing you with great bargains on gift cards in the secure marketplace.

As our business has exploded and evolved, we have experienced that the greatest potential for Plastic Jungle's long-term success is there to working directly with much of our business partners. As an effect, we will no longer be dealing gift cards at internet. plasticjungle. com. This change is as far back as effective today.

With the following transition, there are a few important things you need to know. First, all orders getting processed will be honored along with the same guarantee of service and safety that we have upheld for several years. Second, our website will be available to help you to access your account along with retrieve gift cards till November 1, 2013. Lastly, Plastic Jungle will carry on and offer gift card trading services to customers by way of our partners. Finally, our customer service table will remain open during this period to answer inquiries and resolve any concerns. When you've got any questions, we encourage want you to visit our FAQs article or contact Plastic Rainforest Customer Success at customersuccess@plasticjungle. com.

We checked into our hotel to get a long weekend and this can be a view we were greeted with. Pretty good sundown I'd say. Any guess where it was eventually taken?

A morning holiday to the pool ended up being Baby Weekly Flyer's earliest swim lesson. That solely makes the trip worthy. But to be in a position to get away as a family for free on points and miles makes it that much sweeter.

Experience Vacation Meets Luxury, In The Arctic

Enter property tour driver Abercrombie and Kent, identified for luxurious and secure safari-like travel packages with a hefty price. Offering greater than a lazy man's experience, Abercrombie and Kent (A&K) recently reported a 2014 choice of cruises to the Arctic. These luxurious versions of the frigid journey sailings for vigorous people, typically associated with that area of the world, may possibly perfectly be just what the pseudo-adventure tourist has in mind also. On their July 29, 2014, cruising a Arctic Cruise Norway: Polar Bears & Midnight Sun a' A&K books take their guests to see polar bears, walrus and reindeer from the northern shores of Norway to the Svalbard Archipelago and Spitsbergen (AKA the last halt before the North pole), setting foot on the coastal city of TromsA and the polar bear stomping grounds of Nordaustlandet. The 12-day adventure begins at $8,995. Browsing polar bears on the Svalbard archipelago, Kejser Franz Joseph Fjords and Scoresby Sound in Greenland along with Iceland's extinct Snaefellsjokull volcano among other stops is not an inexpensive move around the Caribbean. That one will run $11,995 to you. Believe seems like too much to pay? Not everyone does: A&K's 2013 Arctic products sold-out 10 weeks in advance. This movie gives a concept to us of why they may be so popular: Filed under: Biking, Hiking, North America, Antarctica, United States, Luxurious Journey

Person Gathers Over 8,000 aDo Perhaps not Disturba Signals

A Quinn Dombrowski Every one requires a interest, and almost everybody else who travels has collected something or other as you go along. For a few of us itas icebox magnets, postcards, jewelry, or bar coasters. For Edoardo Flores itas Don't Disturb signs. Flores has collected over 8,000 Don't Disturb symptoms from hotels in 180 countries (in case youare maintaining track thatas just about any country on Earth.) Flores doesnat condone robbery. Apart from the paper types which can be simply replaced, he always wants permission to have a sign and has either acquired or been given all the signs in his selection. Not totally all of the signals are from his own travels. Some have been offered to the collection by friends and family who know of Floresa obsession. Offers We Like - Southwest and AirTran Extend their Schedule to January 5, 2014

Many airlines permit you to book travel 330 days beforehand, some of the US lower provider airlines possess a different scheduling routine. Once in awhile Southwest and AirTran expand their reservations system a few months out at any given time. When I saw Southwestas tweet they have expanded their plan to January 5, 2014 I was very happy this morning. Until now you could only guide until November 1, 2013. It's simple to book journey for October, including Columbus Day weekend. With both air companies, the journey price falls and if you book today you're able to get yourself a credit. Also, with Southwest, you can totally cancel your reservation for NO punishment (unlike AirTran). Listed below are the four scenarios on how you'll get reinstated for your reservation: You will also have the full level of taxes back to your credit card. Often they'll maybe not tell this to you and instead give a credit to you to be used for future travel for the fees (including $2.50-$7.50 one of the ways), if you terminate the reservation via the telephone, but. Make sure to request that the taxes return to the charge card. While prices may be expensive, that is perfect for vacation travel. My prediction is the rates will go down over time though a' at the least that is what happened this past year (trip journey somewhat went down over a month time frame) and I surely could get 5 tickets down in price by about $100 per ticket roundtrip! Happy booking! Categories: Southwest

The Day I Was Mistaken For A Terrorist

The second incident was, I suppose, partially my fault. I boarded a city bus with a large suitcase, which I put on the luggage rack. Since the rack was right next to the door, I moved a little away from it so I wouldn't be in the way.

For a couple of minutes I stood there, keeping an eye on my bag and not listening to the buzz of voices around me. One conversation, however, began to get my attention.

"Look, you're worried about it just sitting there. You don't see the owner. So go up to the driver and mention it," the man said. He didn't sound worried himself. Instead he sounded a bit condescending.

"Don't worry, no bomb in it, just a bunch of dirty clothes," I said. Then I turned to the man next to her. "But you didn't seem worried."

They looked back at me – middle-aged, middle-class, white me. The woman suddenly looked embarrassed. The man looked defiant.

He waved his hand in a dismissive gesture. "The right wing loons in your country rarely do such things. Most terrorists look nothing like you."

She immediately looked relieved, just like the first woman. All it took was a reassuring word from a complete stranger – a light-skinned, well-spoken stranger.

Mom Points - Newest 50,000 Mile Sign-up Present! (Can Use for United Flights)

Looks like Barclayas Bank is the latest charge card company to drop out a new 50,000 distance sign-up benefit a this time for the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard.A Iam loving these major offers and desired to be sure you knew the essentials of this one a' especially since the value isnat necessarily instinctive for those people in the US who donat generally travel on Lufthansa. Program Link: The Lufthansa Initial Miles & More World MasterCardA First, listed below are the official details: There is also a link specified in post no 3 of this Flyertalk bond to an identical offer that only features a $2,500 spending requirement.A The biggest drawback to that offer (other than the insufficient a landing site if that matters to you), is that the terms suggest that you could be accepted for a card with a lesser sign-up bonus of just 5,000 miles a' which is really a real possibility with Barclayas.A The formal $5,000 offer does not have that warning in the terms, so you need certainly to determine which one makes more sense for you. Just like how the British Airways Visa is clearly really useful for those who fly American Airlines locally, the Lufthansa MasterCard can be quite valuable for those who wish to fly in the US on Star Alliance partners United or US Airways.A The value for a round trip ticket in the US (besides Hawaii) is 25,000 miles for economy or just 35,000 for company class a' which equates to domestic first on United (however, not on US Airways due to how they rule their first class ).A This is a tremendous deal since it usually would cost 50,000 United miles for that same ticket.A Once you spend the $5K going to the spending reward, you'll have 55,000 miles, which is enough for a trip ticket in first class within the US on United.A In addition, you'll still have enough left for another one-way in first or you're just 5,000 miles lacking a trip mentor ticket within the US. Needless to say lots of us donat care that much about an advanced cabin, which means you could also just use the 50,000 miles for two round trip economy seats on United or US Airways within the US (minus Hawaii ).A That's a great option for a card that comes with just a $79 annual cost! Another option is to use your Lufthansa miles for Lufthansa flights, but there are fuel surcharges if you go that route.A Nevertheless, they do provide a 25% discount on the quantity of miles required for a prize admission for children ages 2-11 on flights operated by Adria Airways, Austrian Airlines Group, Air Dolomiti, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Luxair and SWISS.A Truthfully, if I obtained the card my emphasis should be to use the miles for domestic flights within the US on United. I'll also include that Lufthansa Miles an average of terminate after three years.A That may be prevented utilizing the bank card each month, but that sounds too difficult for me personally, therefore the better technique would be to plan to use the miles in the initial three years (preferably faster since I donat trust award graphs to remain constant for many years ).A You also must call directly into book your award on United or US Airways. That card isnat perfect for everyone, but it is quite a darn good present if you earn the miles strategically.A It is also from Barclays in the place of Chase, Amex, and Citi, in order that is just a positive if you are attempting to avoid having way too many programs or accounts with those banks. Disclosure:A I actually do receive a commission in the event that you are approved for a credit card using among my internet links.A The British Airways card and the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard with the $5,000 present are both my links.A As always, thanks for your assistance!

Delta Trying to sell eGift Vouchers

Delta announced that it is now trying to sell eGift Certificates in quantities from $50 to $1,000. The certificates are available in $5 increments, and can bought for either your self or even to give others. Delta is now attempting to sell eGift Certificates on their site. Delta will e-mail it to any chosen person within 72 hours from when you buy it, after the certificate is bought by you. There's a control of five eGifts per transaction. They could just be used for Delta-operated or Delta codeshare flights that have a Delta flight number. In better yet news, these don't end, so you donat need to bother about not using them over time. The terms don't express anything that these aren't transferable therefore I could think that anyone can redeem these as long as you give them the amount. The terms do state, nevertheless, that certificates may only be used for the sum total cost of air transportation, including taxes, charges, and surcharges imposed on the air transportation and can only be used for the Delta air transportation part of a Delta Vacations deal. They might not be used for any extra fees (including luggage fees) or for any other products or services (including course updates, in-flight purchases, SkyMiles Cruises, freight, resort remains, or car rentals), so they're limited somewhat. An example document which you can receive online. Records, including those who are lost, taken, or destroyed, won't be replaced by Delta for any cause. Except where return or redemption is required legally vouchers are not refundable and can not be used or sold for money, check or credit. If you use them for a ticket but do not end up traveling, youall be granted a return minus any fees Delta would impose on a typically acquired ticket prior to the airlineas policies. See full terms and conditions here. Recipients have the ability to get the certificates through delta.com, reservations agents or at airport places by like the redemption rule and document number from the eGift Certificate if they place their reservation. Aside from the fact that these must be much simpler to redeem than some other travel vouchers issued in the past by Delta as well as those by some of its opponents such as for instance American, which you've to call directly into book travel and redeem and then mail in, as well as the fact that these donat expire, these might really can be found in handy as a means to increase your annual $200 airline discount if you have the private Platinum or Business Platinum card, although this might simply take some trial and error. How the fees are numbered and with respect to the volume, you may be able to get reimbursed for these records. The Platinum credit is granted immediately as a statement credit and offers reimbursement for these items: Approved items:Checked baggage feesOverweight/oversize baggage feesChange feesPhone reservation feesPet trip feesAirport lounge time passes and annual membershipsSeat work feesIn-flight requirement fees (beverages, food, pillows/blankets, and so forth )In-flight leisure fees (excluding instant internet) This credit isn't suitable for these charges:Airline ticketsCharges prepared by vendors other than the airline the Cardmember is enrolled in (for example, inflight Internet companies providers such as GoGo )Charges made by airline partners (for example, Cardmember purchase ticket on enrolled airline Delta, but purchases food on an France flight )Trip insurance / suitcase insuranceTicket improvements (Including American Airlines Upgrade Stickers )Travel representative feesPoint exchange feesDuty free purchaseAward ticket feesGift cards issued by Airlines While there are several anot applicablea expenses on that list including agift cards issued by airlinesa and airline tickets, there's plenty of historical evidence on Flyertalk that people have in fact been ready to use their $200 payment to acquire both affordable airline tickets (under $200) as well as airline coupons, updates, and even elite status through a variety of strategies that have to do with the amount a ticket or airline voucher expenses in addition to the way it is numbered on their credit card bill. If the cost is offered as aTravel a Airlinea on your record, you wonat get returned, however they key facets appear to be the way an admission is charged and the amount of cash spent on a fare, along with many different purchase practices that include getting airline vouchers (usually at the $100 mark or under) that are able to be utilized pretty much for just about any price on the airline, including passes. Flyertalkers have reported getting reimbursed for various expenses including improvements using miles and money where they paid for the charge with their Platinum card and at the very top status challenge, among other items, so according to how these e-Gift certificates are numbered and how much you charge (Iad suggest beginning with a little amount like $50), you could be in a position to get reimbursed for these. Mommy Points - The Scoop on Hilton HHonors AXON Award Changes (or Devaluations)

As you may have already heard (or at least suspected after HHonors gutted some of their award chart), the HHonors AXON awards that are available to Hilton Amex cardholders are also changing effective June 15th. As you may have also guessed, the changes are not good news.

Before I get into the details regarding the changes, I want to make sure that you know what an AXON award is. An AXON award is a chance to book a four night stay at a Category 5 and up property at a discounted rate. It is also known as an American Express Four Night Reward Stay Benefit.  If you like longer trips, you can use them for any length of stay that has a multiple of four (8, 12, etc.). These awards are only available to those who have co-branded Hilton Amex cards such as the American Express HHonors Surpass Card or the American Express Hilton HHonors card.  Once upon an time the AXON awards offered a pretty good value, but as you will see that value has changed a bit.

Note that Axon awards are different than the benefits that elites get where the 5th award night is free. Keep in mind that many of the various Hilton credit cards come with elite status of some sort, at least for the free year. For example, Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card won't give you access to the AXON awards since it is not an Amex, but it would give you Gold status and thus access to the fifth night free elite benefit.

Until late March, the highest category Hilton HHonors hotel was a Category 7, but now they have added categories 8 – 10. If a hotel you want to book an AXON award at is still a category 5, 6, or 7 hotel it would pay to do that before June 15th when the higher AXON rates go info effect. If you want to book an AXON award right now for a hotel that is a Category 8 – 10, that doesn't seem possible quite yet.

Category 5 hotels: 130,000 points (four nights regularly 120,000 to 160,000 points)Category 6 hotels: 160,000 points (four nights regularly 120,000 to 200,000 points)Category 7 hotels: 190,000 points (four nights regularly 120,000 to 240,000 points)Category 8 hotels: 220,000 points (four nights regularly 160,000 to 280,000 points)Category 9 hotels: 260,000 points (four nights regularly 200,000 to 320,000 points)Category 10 hotels: 300,000 points (four nights regularly 280,000 to 380,000 points)

A quick glance at the old and new chart show that clearly the new chart is both more expensive and more confusing.  This is in part due to the fact that in March Hilton introduced seasonal pricing to award nights at some hotels, so it isn't as simple as saying a Category 7 hotel award night costs 60,000 points per night, so clearly getting four nights via the AXON award chart at 190,000 points is a discount over the 240,000 points it would have otherwise cost.  Instead a Category 7 award night can cost between 30,000 – 60,000 points, so if it is going for just 30,000 points per night on the nights you are interested in, then booking via the AXON award would cost more than booking without it.  In other words, you have to do your math and see what what the hotel you want is going for on the dates you are interested in.  You can then compare that to the cost of four nights via the AXON award and then see what will be the best points deal for you.

As an example, let's say your family has a co-branded Amex card that would provide both access to AXON awards and provides elite status, and you want to stay at the Hilton Orlando for four nights from June 27th – July 1st.  The first step is to see what category the hotel is.  You can do that by going here and searching for the hotel you are interested in.  When you click on the individual hotel you will see what it is categorized as.  You can see that the Hilton Orlando is a Category 6 hotel.

From that same search tool you can also see how the pricing for the hotel varies from month to month, however this doesn't tell you whether or not the hotel has standard rooms available on the days you want.  For that you still need to do a search for the dates you want (make sure to check the box that says use HHonors Points).

That hotel can be booked on those days for 30,000 points per night.  So, if you booked four nights it would cost you 120,000 points.  In this case the AXON award for a Category 6 Hotel at 160,000 points would clearly not be the best route to take since it would cost you 40,000 more points.  However, if your family decided to stay five nights, then the fifth night would be free via your fifth night free elite benefit so you could have an extra night of vacation without spending any additional hotel points.

Alternatively, if you wanted to stay at this same hotel over spring break in 2014 from March 5th – March 9th it would cost you 50,000 points per night as that is a month where the points price is higher.  In that case the AXON award at 160,000 points would be a savings over the 200,000 points it would otherwise cost. Of course the best deal in that case would be to lock in the AXON award now at the old rate of 125,000 points for four nights before the change on June 15th.  AXON awards must be booked over the phone.

The summary is that AXON awards are sticking around, but they aren't quite the deal they used to be by any stretch.  If you can lock in one now, that is often the best the way to go.  If not, you will need to do the math in the future to see whether or not it is in your benefit to use the AXON award, the fifth night free elite benefit, or just pay the regular points rate.  Thank you to Mr. Pickles for sharing the news of the new AXON award chart.

Hyatt Extends 1,000-Point Diamond Welcome Amenity To International Hotels

Hyatt Diamond elite status (25 stays or 50 nights in a calendar year) includes a bunch of valuable perks such as a 30% points bonus, room-available upgrades, Club lounge access, free breakfast, four annual suite upgrades, complimentary internet access, a 48-hour room availability guarantee, late check-out, a dedicated customer service line and a welcome amenity of either a point bonus or a food and beverage amenity during each stay.

Until now, the possibility of choosing a 1,000-point welcome amenity was limited to hotels in the US, Canada and the Caribbean, but now, Diamond members will be able to choose it at international properties as well per this announcement on Milepoint by Hyatt's Gold Passport rep.

What's new? At Park Hyatt®, Grand Hyatt®, Hyatt® Hyatt Regency® and Andaz® locations outside the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, Diamond members now have a choice of welcome amenity. Diamond members can choose either a food and beverage amenity (locally inspired amenity at Andaz hotels) or 1,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points.

What remains the same? At Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt and Hyatt Regency locations in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, Diamond members can continue to select a food and beverage welcome amenity or 1,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points. And, at all Hyatt Place® and HYATT houseTM locations, Diamond members will continue to enjoy a choice of 500 bonus points or in-hotel selection (complimentary beverage at Hyatt Place or $5 credit in the Guest Market at HYATT house).

Although it was nice to walk into a Hyatt overseas and get something like a bottle of soju and persimmons at the Park Hyatt Seoul, in pretty much any instance, I'd prefer the 1,000 Hyatt points since I value them at about 2 cents each, so that's $20 back right there. This also brings Hyatt into line with other hotel programs' elite benefits such as Starwood's  250-500 point welcome amenity offered to Gold and Platinum members at properties all over the world (125 at Four Points, Element and aloft).

I almost always choose the welcome point bonus as my elite amenity, so it's nice to know that from now on I can bank on 1,000 extra points when I stay at a Hyatt overseas instead of settling for a random F&B amenity.

Travel Constantly With Jobs Like These

But there are a amount of other occupations that include travel as a key part of the work description. Some travel periodically and for the others, the job is on the highway. If a traveling job seems like a good match, consider thinking along these lines: Knowledge ProfessionalsPick your theme (one which you love would be a good alternative), get credentialed and put your cap in the band to show anywhere on our planet. TeachAbroad could let you know exactly about it here. The theory because of this article really originated in a teacher. Also the shooter on last Saturday's Photo of the Day, Lauren Irons is TheTravelingTeacher and her travel/work has observed Cambodia, Malaysia, Morocco, India and other places all over the world. Irons requires fans along for the experience via her website, rich in decorative photographs and first-hand reports of her adventure. Military members"Join the Navy, Begin to see the world" continues to be a really viable alternative for a profession that could have a great level of travel, and not necessarily into battle areas. The U.S. Navy, even today, touts the travel opportunities available: "If you enjoy traveling, you'll be able to benefit from flying at no cost on military aircraft while they go different places all over the world. You'll also be able to connect with lodging at different Navy bases and other military bases, which are under an American flag. This may enable you to see much more good areas while you're enlisted in the US Navy." "In college I dreamed of having a worldwide career," writes Caroline Polt, RN at Transitions Abroad, an on line source that helps people function, live, research and/or volunteer abroad. "Several years after my sister went off to foreign countries to teach English, I decided to follow the same route," continues Polt, writing, "healthcare organizations worldwide are struggling to generate nurses." Travel AgentsPart to be a agent is experiencing spots, methods of travel and other elements of scheduling travel that require personal contact. Today, webinars took the spot of a lot of what travel providers frequently saw on familiarization visits, hosted by way of a tour operator, resort, cruise line and other travel resource. Spot IndependentsThese are people that are experts within their industry so they really go share their knowledge/gifts with others. " Or Any Other Job On The PlanetThe key, it seems, is always to earnestly search for the job that may have the right quantity of travel for you. Desire to be home on the weekends? You will find jobs that can make that happen. Desire to travel only in the United States? Different jobs do that too. Maybe travel isn't the main priority when looking for a job. New York: Amanda Bynes Bunks at the T Times Square...With No Shorts On

We are no strangers to stars having total meltdowns in motels (hi, Charlie Sheen! Hello, Lindsay Lohan!), then when we read about 27-year-old actor Amanda Bynes' current spaz-out at the W New York Times Square, we considered to ourselves, "Of course." In Touch studies that Bynes was enjoying a month-long lengthy stay at the hotel recently, when her erratic behavior started initially to slide out employees in a big way. According to the article: "ian staff 'found her curled up in the place of the gym smoking i without pants on!'" Obviously, Amanda never got around to reading our convenient information on.. Because we'd positively file any particular one under "do not do." Actually. Bynes has certainly been having a tough time recently (On Thursday, per day after her 27th birthday, she declared she had an eating disorder). And she was also captured walking around Times Square (probably en route to her hotel) keeping a FedEx package, but then explained on Twitter that the girl in the photographs "was an impostor." Um, righti As we see it, the W Times Square might really be her best choice for the full time being: earlier in 2013, the hotel was supplying a detoxification program with materials for a six-day liquid clean (the promo's expired, however again, we're certain they could bend a few rules for the former star of She's The Man.

One Mile at a Time - Laptop bags vs. backpacks… my opinion is slowly changing

In addition to a 22″ (or so) rollaboard, every road warrior has either a laptop bag or backpack. I've always been firmly on "team laptop," with my primary laptop bag being a Tumi Alpha.

If I'm not checking my rollaboard, then this combo works perfectly, because as I shared in this post, I simply hang my laptop bag over my rollaboard.

But the more I travel, the more I realize how much laptop bags suck whenever not used in conjunction with my rollaboard. Perhaps it's false causation, though my left shoulder is starting to develop some issues compared to my right shoulder (at least that's what my doctor, er, massage therapist in Thailand, told me), and I can't help but think it has to do with all the years I've been carrying a laptop bag over my left shoulder. For what it's worth my laptop bags are super heavy, but I think it has to do more with the "crooked" stance than anything else.

So I've actually started taking a backpack on some trips instead of a laptop bag. I'm not sure I actually have to explain the benefits of backpacks, as Dora the Explorer does a pretty good job of it here:

My change of heart is probably due to flying Alaska Airlines. They have an amazing 20 minute baggage guarantee, so checked bags always arrive at the carousel within 20 minutes of the door opening. Given that Alaska seems to start boarding their flights on average about 56 minutes before departure, I've found it's more efficient to just check my bag and not have to get to the gate an hour before departure to secure overhead bin space. And when walking more than a few feet it's always more comfortable to have a backpack than laptop bag hanging off your back.

50% Bonus For Converting Hotel Points to US Airways Miles

In addition to the current 50% share/transfer miles bonus that US Airways is having at the moment, the airline is also offering a 50% bonus on hotel points that you convert into US Airways Dividend miles. Before you get too excited and start transferring tons of Starwood points to US Airways miles, SPG is not participating in this bonus, which is too bad since 20,000 Starwood points would have been converted into 37,500 US Airways miles under the terms of this promo.

You don't have to register – the bonus is coded into the hotel point transfer page, and the promotion is running through April 30.

First, the activity date of your conversion must occur between April 1-April 30, 2013, though the T&C  also say that "the last date that activity from a qualifying partner can be received by US Airways for bonus miles consideration is April 10, 2013, regardless of the eligible activity date for such activity." So that's a bit confusing, and I'd say to be safe, convert your points before April 10.

The T&C also state that Dividend members can earn only one bonus when they transfer hotel points into Dividend miles during the promotion, so it sounds like you can only make one transfer that will be eligible for the bonus and had better choose carefully.

While this isn't an amazing opportunity to bank bonus US Airways miles since the conversion rates are pretty unfavorable in most cases (I mean, 12 Hilton points to 1 US Airways miles says it all!), if you have some stray points in various programs like Best Western Rewards, Choice Privileges or Wyndham Rewards, this could be a good opportunity to clean your slate and pick up some extra US Airways miles in the process pre-merger.

Respect Traveler - Affordable Berlin travel, galleries and food

Berlin could be the about the cheapest capital city in western Europe for a tourist. Transportation goes for the city are 28 Euro for seven days and include city trains U-bahn (metropolitan rail system) and S-bahn trams and busses. Grab a move at any place in the town or the Tegel airport BVG center when you arrive. BVG Solution Passes BVG is Berlin Verkehrsbetriebe or Berlin Transport Company. Be aware that Berlin is just a city of 3.5 million citizens. In the united states only Ny and Los Angeles have a bigger population. Unless you have reason to travel to the outer town limitations, then A-B areas will probably include all your tourist travel needs. U-bahnhof Hermannplatz I purchased a 7-day transportation solution for my eight day stay static in Berlin and I'll probably have overpaid 2a compared to buying individual seats at 2.40a. The ease of the ticket was worth the excess money because I did not have to invest time getting a ticket or finding the cash for a ticket. The elements was dry on four days of my trip and I walked 20 or therefore miles on the streets in the place of getting trams or trains. A side note is you only have to stamp your ticket or multi-use pass initially you use it and then put it away. You can find no solution gates to enter of exit train and train stations. Berlin transport signs. My first experience out of ten trips was the only real time solution inspectors came aboard the bus to check individual tickets. Every one on the bus had a valid ticket. As the personnel boarded two men got off the crowded bus. In Amsterdam when I've seen ticket personnel enter trams, up to half the individuals were fined for lacking a good ticket. Germans have a tendency to follow the rules. Berlin Memorial Complete Admission is given by berlin Museum Pass to 55 galleries 19a over 3 consecutive days. Berlin Welcome Card 8 designs based on parts and size from 2 to 5 days. Whether a Berlin public cross or Berlin Welcome Card is for you depends upon your ideas. Cost-effective Food I've lived on Asian noodle shops which are typical over the town where 3 a buys a box of noodles and vegetables with chicken. You can find frequently twelve different dishes which range from 3 to 6 Euros. Happy Noodles selection near Alexanderplatz. On the left is the chicken and vegetable combination and simple noodle, chicken, meat and shrimp are included whenever you buy and heated on the location. The food is generally clean when clients are available in often. Like it'd been sitting for a while without customers because the food looked I went out of 1 noodle shop in Berlin west side. Soup for less than 2a. I ate at Happy Noodles once and took photographs of the menu. The best spot where I ate repeatedly is AsiaGourmet at Alexanderplatz by KFC. My common meal was 4.50 to 5.50 a and a 0.5 M Berliner Kindl alcohol for 2 a a filling and satisfying meal for this traveler. 5.50 a meat and noodles AsiaGourmet. 3.00 a and noodles at Happy Noodles. Prices are exactly the same for dinner and lunch. In neighborhoods away from Alexanderplatz and major hotels there are generally plenty of ethnic eateries for Indian, Thai and Middle Eastern food. This week any German style meals were not eaten by me. I lived in Germany for three years and German food is mainly potatoes and meats. I passed by a German restaurant in the hotel area near Alexanderplatz asking 20 a for a schnitzel dinner. Certainly there are German foods for less and a chicken with bread can be found for 3a or less. If breakfast doesn't be provided by your hotel then buy at a market. Boxed salad with chicken about 1.80 a yogurt drink 720 ml for 1.00 a; baguette 0.50 a; sliced cheeses under 2a and sliced meats under 2a. Beer earnings about 0.40 to 0.65a at supermarkets and 2a at night shops. Bars on average demand 2.20 to 3.50a for alcohol.
